LEAGUE RULES

The Steamy South Inline Hockey League will play under the 2006-07 USA Hockey Inline Rules. The complete rule book is available from USA Hockey or on their website.

In addition to, or as a substitute for the above rules, the following additional rules will be enforced for the 2006 Steamy South season:

• For regular games, the length of the 8u, 10u, 12u, and 14u games will be two sixteen minute running time periods, stop clock if within 1 goal in last 2 minutes. The length of the 18u games will be two seventeen minute running time periods, stop clock if within 1 goal in last 2 minutes.  There will be a one-minute break between the periods and a two-minute warm-up before the game. A single one-minute time out is allowed.
• For playoff games, games of all divisions are two fifteen periods stop clock with a five minute running clock sudden death overtime, followed by a 4-man shoot out and a sudden death shoot out.
• No mercy rule will be used. All games will be played to their normal conclusion.
• Any forfeits will be counted as an 8-0 loss.
• Tie-breakers for determining seeding for playoffs will be as per USA Hockey Tournament rules:
  1. Total Points
  2. Head to Head (2 team tie only)
  3. Goals Against
  4. Goals For
  5. Fewest Penalty Minutes
  6. Coin Flip
• Any Head Coach whose team receives ten penalties in the same game will be suspended for the balance of the game and the next scheduled game.
• Three minor penalties in one game to the same player results in an automatic Game Ejection penalty. Note: a double minor for roughing counts as one penalty, however a two different penalties given at the same time (e.g. roughing and unsportsmanlike conduct assessed at the same time count as two penalties under this rule.
• Fighting Suspensions:
  • The first offense of the season for Fighting will result in an immediate ejection from the game and a one game suspension.
  • The second Fighting Penalty in the season for the same player will result in an immediate ejection from the game and a three game suspension.
  • The third Fighting penalty in the season for the same player will result in an immediate ejection from the game and a suspension for the remainder of the season.
  • Where a player is playing in more than one age division, all Game Misconducts and suspensions shall be served in the age division in which the suspension was given.
