Teams will be placed at a level, either elite,
competitive, or recreational, based
upon the strength of the team and the strength of the regional
qualifier at which the team qualifies. Elite level teams can add
three players to their regional qualifier roster. Competitive and
Recreational teams rosters are frozen at the regional they qualify
in. Recreational teams can also qualify from sanctioned leagues.
Teams can request to be moved up to a higher level of competition.
The 6u, 20u and all of the All Girls Divisions are open divisions
and teams do not have to qualify.
SPECIAL NOTE: No athlete is allowed to compete in 2 levels (Elite,
Competitive, or Recreation) in the same age division.
Awards AAU Junior Olympic Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Copper medals are
presented to each player from the top four teams in each division.
Team Awards for the top four teams in each division.
Championship Banners for the champions of each Elite and Competitive
Division. Special Opportunities The AAU will present the 2005 AAU All-American Hockey Team at the
Junior Olympic Games. Players 18 years old and younger at the 2005 AAU
Junior Olympic Games will be evaluated to be invited to try-out for the
2006 Team USA Junior World Team which will play at the 2006 FIRS
Junior World Championships In France.
Players 19 years and older will be evaluated to be invited to
try-out for the 2006 Men's Team USA which will play at the 2006 FIRS
World Championships In Italy.
Players from the 8u, 10u, 12u, 14u, and 16u divisions at the 2005
AAU Junior Olympic Games will be evaluated to be invited to go to the
2006 Team USA Prospects Camp run by the coaches of Team USA to
identify the up and coming players in the USA and help advance their
careers.
Girls from the 17u division at the 2005 AAU Junior Olympics will be
evaluated to be invited to try-out for the 2006 Women Team USA which
will play at the 2006 FIRS World Championships in Italy.
Skills Competition and 3-on-3 Mini Tournament
There will be a Skills Competition and 3-on-3 Mini Tournament in
each age group at the Junior Olympics. Schedule to be
announced.

The USARS USA Championships will present gold, silver, bronze
and copper medals to
all members of each team placing in the top four, in each
division.

New rule for 2006 Team USA selection camp criteria:
In 2005, all athletes that wish to be considered for the
2006 Team USA Men’s and Women’s teams must play at the 2005
Men’s and Women’s USA Championships in New Orleans August 5
- 7, 2005.
Athletes must compete in all scheduled games that his/her
team is scheduled to
play to be eligible for the 2006 team USA Select Camp.
Athletes that compete in the high school, 20u men’s
divisions and the girl’s 17u divisions at the 2005 USARS/USA
Championships in Raleigh, NC, or the Junior Olympic Games in New
Orleans are also eligible. |
